The fixed reference voltage Vref is give to the inverting terminal (-) of the op-amp. It is called a non-inverting comparator circuit as the sinusoidal input signal Vin is applied to the non-inverting terminal. Working of 741 IC Op-amp Comparator Circuit Non-inverting 741 IC Op-amp Comparator CircuitĪ non-inverting 741 IC op-amp comparator circuit is shown in the figure below. The 2 inputs, out of which one is a reference voltage (Vref) is compared with each other. This principle is used in a comparator circuit with two inputs and an output. Thus, an op-amp operating in open loop configuration will have an output that goes to positive saturation or negative saturation level or switch between positive and negative saturation levels and thus clips the output above these levels. In an op-amp with an open loop configuration with a differential or single input signal has a value greater than 0, the high gain which goes to infinity drives the output of the op-amp into saturation. A comparator is also an important circuit in the design of non-sinusoidal waveform generators as relaxation oscillators. Our input parameters of Function generator: Input parameters Check out this video for simulation in Multisim. In this post we will be discussing about the op-amp as a comparator. We have already discussed other applications of the op-amp in rectangular wave form generator circuits like astable (or free-running) multivibrators, monostable multivibrators (or one-shot) and bistable multivibrators (or flip-flops). The above triangular waveform is the output and the below square wave is the input.Output waveform: Output- Op amp integrator circuit We are providing the square wave input which means the output will be triangular wave. The output voltage is directly proportional to negative integral of the input voltage and inversely proportional to RC time constant.Let input voltage be Vin and Vo be output voltage. The current flowing through R1 will be equal to the current flowing through capacitor.+ve terminal is at ground and therefore by virtual ground concept the -ve terminal will be also grounded. The above simulation is done in Multisim Software. No we connect a function generator at the input and a oscilloscope. Non Inverting terminal is connected to the ground. A capacitor is connected in feedback which is between the output and the input terminal. The input signal is connected to the inverting input of the Op amp. Therefore the output voltage is proportional to the integral of the input voltage.Ĭircuit Diagram Opamp as an integrator- Circuit DiagramĪs you can see, we are using Op amp in inverting mode. As the name implies this circuit performs the mathemaical operation of integration. So, lets discuss how an Op amp Integrator circuit works. In most of the circuits the Op amp consist of a resistor in its feedback but in integrator we connect a capacitor in the feedback. We can design an Op amp integrator circuit using a resistor and a capacitor. Op amp is known as Operational Amplifier.
